There are plenty of fun times at the orchard with fresh apple cider donuts, and hot apple cider to quench your thirst after picking your own apples.
Please call to make an appointment for your group to enjoy a walk around the orchard and have lunch overlooking the pond at our picnic tables.
See Cathryn's favorite recipe page for apple crisp, apple sauce, and apple pie.
Want to take a Horse Listeners Orchard School Tour?
- We take the children on a tractor-drawn wagon ride from the store through the orchard. After the friendly tour guide shows the kids the proper way to pick an apple, each child gets a small bag and can pick 6 apples each. (There is enough time here to pick more if your group would like to. Discounted Pick-Your-Own prices apply). After picking, members of the group examine and measure their apples and learn how to use a picking pole and seat a picking bucket.
- After a beautiful ride out by our 2 acre pond your group may sit down at the picnic tables for a cold cup of apple cider and snack. The tour guide will explain how to make fresh cider from a press and learn why honeybees are integral to an apple orchard.
School Tour FAQ's
- Our tours are designed for preschool through 2nd grade classes.
- A typical tour lasts 90 minutes.
- We can accommodate up to 16 children in a group.
- We charge a fee of $75.00 for 16 children, then $4.00 for every child after that. There isn’t an additional charge teachers or chaperones to take the tour.
- We provide 8 oz. cups of cider for the children, teachers and up to two chaperones. We include approximately 2 pecks of apples for the children to pick and take home.
- Parents are welcome to accompany the group, but be aware that there may not be enough room on the wagon to fit all of the parents. Our wagons will safely hold 16 children and 2 adults.
- Please have the children dress appropriately with boots and jackets. We will hold the tour if it is sprinkling as we know it is hard to get a bus and permission slips, etc. If it rains, the tours will not run and we will try to reschedule your group for another time.
Pony Rides at our Orchard
Pony rides are wholesome outdoor fun you can have at our orchard! Kids learn to love and experience the excitement of animals. For the kids, the excitement is being around live animals and getting to touch, pet, feed them then ride them. Adults experience the same enjoyment that often reminds them of their own childhood. These trots for tots (ages 2 and older) offer the ideal introduction to our equine friends. Matt and his staff always walk right alongside the child on the pony to make sure they're having a great and safe time. Call the orchard and speak to Matt about his schedule and pricing for pony rides.
Free Cider Donuts & Hot Cider
Many customers frequent the orchard for our apple cider donuts! These donuts are available freshly made especially for us on certain Saturdays. Apple cider donuts are the perfect reward after picking apples in the orchard. Come to the salesroom and try a sample.
As Thanksgiving and the holidays approach, we have free hot apple cider for our customers in the salesroom. It is a special recipe that warms you up and makes it worth your trip to pick up apples for pies and sauce.
Other Activities in the Works
